Developing Young Leaders with Ratton School

On the Wednesday 1st March Ratton School in Eastbourne visited F4P at its base at the University of Brighton for a F4P Leadership Day for their Year 10 Prefects. The day allowed the group to meet students at University and experience the campus, (science labs, halls of residence, sport facilities and lecture theatres) in order to give them an insight and understanding of university life.

The university students are also trained F4P coaches working in the community then ran a circuits session focusing on team building, problem solving, trust activities and a survival exercise.

The afternoon consisted of a leadership and role model lecture which got the Ratton students thinking about what being a role model is, how they can use their initiative within the school setting, promoting the school ethos to pupils and external visitors, and how they can implement and build upon public speaking.

At the end of the day the pupils had a greater understanding of their school’s values and ethos.  They demonstrated through presentations how they should lead and how the values and new skills could be emphasised / implemented within their new leadership roles at school.
